Bambu ASA Aero Filament — Lightweight, Tough, Outdoor-Ready

Bambu ASA Aero is a self-foaming engineering filament designed to produce ultra-lightweight yet durable prints. Its heat-activated foaming behavior allows controlled density reduction during printing, making it ideal for weight-sensitive and outdoor applications such as RC aircraft, UAV components, and exposed functional parts.

Compared to other foaming filaments, ASA Aero offers stronger layer bonding, higher impact resistance, and improved long-term outdoor durability.

Compatibility

• Printers: Enclosed FDM printers recommended
• Nozzles: 0.4 mm hardened steel (recommended), 0.4 mm stainless steel
• Build plates: Smooth PEI Plate, Textured PEI Plate
• AMS: Compatible

Not recommended

• 0.2 mm nozzles
• 0.6 mm or 0.8 mm nozzles
• Cool Plate or SuperTack

Recommended settings (starting points)

• Drying: 80 °C for 8 hours (mandatory)
• Nozzle: 240–280 °C
• Bed: 80–90 °C (with glue)
• Print speed: ≤ 150 mm/s
• Enclosure required
• Ventilated area recommended due to odor
• Storage: Keep sealed and dry with desiccant (below 20% RH)
