Bambu PETG Basic — Balanced Strength & Reliable Everyday Printing

Strong • Predictable • Functional

Overview

Bambu PETG Basic is a well-balanced, general-purpose PETG designed for consistent, reliable printing. It delivers strong layer adhesion, good impact resistance, and improved surface quality—making it ideal for functional parts and everyday use.

Compared to PETG-HF, PETG Basic focuses on stability and predictable results at moderate speeds, rather than maximum flow and high-speed printing.

PETG Basic vs PETG-HF

• Choose PETG Basic → more consistent, easier tuning, everyday prints
• Choose PETG-HF → faster print speeds, higher flow, better for production

Why choose PETG Basic

• Strong & tough: Handles stress and impact better than PLA
• Consistent results: Stable extrusion and predictable performance
• Outdoor capable: Resistant to water, UV, and temperature
• Cleaner prints: Reduced stringing vs typical PETG
• Versatile: Works well across a wide range of printers and setups
• AMS compatible: Works with AMS / AMS 2 Pro / AMS HT

Recommended starting settings

• Nozzle: 230–250 °C (start ~240 °C)
• Bed: 70–90 °C (start ~80 °C)
• Fan: 0–40% after first layers
• Speed: 40–120 mm/s
• Build plate: Smooth or Textured PEI
• Adhesion: Use Magigoo on smooth PEI as a release agent

Printing tips

• Dry before use if exposed to humidity (≈65–70 °C for 6–8 h)
• Let parts cool before removal (PETG bonds strongly to PEI)
• Moderate speeds improve surface quality and strength
• Tune retraction to minimize stringing

Typical use cases

• Brackets, mounts, and shop fixtures
• Outdoor parts and general-use items
• Containers, organizers, and holders
• Functional prints where PLA isn’t durable enough

Specs (typical)

• Diameter: 1.75 mm
• Material: PETG
• Strength: Comparable to PLA with higher toughness
• Impact resistance: Higher than PLA
• Heat resistance: Better than PLA (avoid sustained >70–80 °C)
• Storage: Keep sealed with desiccant

Compatibility

• Bambu Lab A1 / A1 Mini / P1 / P2 / X1 series
• Most 1.75 mm FDM printers
• AMS / AMS 2 Pro / AMS HT compatible
