PLA CF — Stiff, Matte Finish, Easy-to-Print Strength

PLA CF combines standard PLA with fine carbon fiber for increased stiffness, reduced flex, and a premium matte surface. It prints nearly as easily as regular PLA while delivering sharper edges, better dimensional stability, and a professional, low-sheen finish—ideal for functional and visual parts alike.

Why choose PLA CF

• Higher stiffness than standard PLA with excellent dimensional stability
• Clean matte surface that hides layer lines and fingerprints
• Sharp edges and fine detail; easy to sand, drill, and tap
• Low warp; prints well on open or enclosed printers
• AMS / AMS 2 Pro / AMS HT compatible

Nozzle & wear guidance

• Carbon fiber is abrasive — use a hardened steel or diamond nozzle
• Recommended nozzle sizes: 0.4–0.6 mm
• Brass nozzles will wear quickly; recalibrate flow as the nozzle ages

Recommended print settings (starting points)

• Nozzle: 210–230 °C (start ~215 °C)
• Bed: 50–65 °C (start ~60 °C)
• Fan: 30–80% after first layers (lower fan = stronger parts)
• Speed: 40–150 mm/s depending on surface quality goals
• Build plate: Textured or Smooth PEI (use light release on smooth PEI if adhesion is aggressive)

Tips for best results

• Keep filament dry; store sealed with desiccant
• If stringing appears, dry at ~45–55 °C for 3–4 hours
• Use thicker walls (≥0.8–1.2 mm) for rigidity and surface consistency
• Increase infill overlap slightly for stronger functional parts
• For threaded holes, print oversized and tap—avoid self-tapping thin walls

Typical uses

• Jigs, fixtures, brackets, camera mounts, shop tools
• RC and drone parts, cosplay armor panels, prop shells
• Covers, housings, and geometry-sensitive prototypes

Specs (typical)

• Diameter: 1.75 mm
• Net weight: varies by option (commonly 1 kg)
• Material: PLA reinforced with carbon fiber
• Finish: matte / low-sheen
• Storage: cool, dry; reseal with desiccant

Compatibility

• Compatible with A1, A1 Mini, P1P, P1S, P2S, X1, X1 Carbon, X1E, and most 1.75 mm FDM printers
• AMS compatible (dry filament improves consistency and feeding)

Notes

• Stiffer than PLA but less impact-tough than PETG or Nylon
• Not food-safe
• Avoid high-temperature environments typical of PLA materials
